... say hello to Smiley
Andrew Castle - ex tennis no.1 & GMTV presenterI would just soooo want to be her - lucky thing!

As lovely as the Jackal! And a sportsman!

How could I have not noticed this man? Sadly I was still at school and more interested in Swedish tennis players than our lovely Surrey
man Andrew! Famously lead Mats Wilander 2-0 only to get beaten 6-0. What a shame!
The best excuse to get out of bed in the morning... watching him on the box!

David Tennant aka Dr Who - need I say more? I first saw him in the fantasticTakin over the Asylum in which he starred alongside Ken Stott and Katy Murphy as a manic teenager who wanted to be a radio star. As the smart-alec Galifreyan who fell for Rose Tyler, David has just been astronomically brilliant - let's hope he stays! AND he's a Proclaimers' fan, what more do you need?
Paul Darrow aka Ker Avon of Blake's Seven.I remember this fantastic 70s-80s series with the wobbly walls and pre-CGI effects! Like early Doctor Who, Avon and Blake were space rebels. Avon was always sarcastic and full of himself, but did we love him! Just like we all loved JR in Dallas!
In later series when Rog Blake disappeared, Avon took over as captain of the Liberator with the five other rebels, taking on the space-bitch Servelan, who quite often seemed to like getting in sticky moments with the sneering Avon! The series ended with Avon being surrounded by Federation troops and all his friends dead around him, having just shot Blake who he mistakenly believed had betrayed him. Did Avon survive? We've never found out. Actor Paul Darrow did get involved in the campaign to resurrect Blake's Seven, but to date the project has stalled.
It would be an interesting cross-over for Torchwood methinks! There's something about smart, handsome, sarky men! ;-)

Speaking of Torchwood, my other favourite man is of course Captain Jack Harkness, better known as actor, singer, performer, John Barrowman, who shares his birthdate with me!! Woohoo! Also to be seen in the new film version of The Producers as a platinum blonde Nazi! (Eeww!) Who cares? He's Cardiff's favourite 'friend of Dorothy'.

But, I'm a sucker for a cute-looking geek! Nick Crane, star of Map Man, Coast, Great British Journeys and a few other things is the most gorgeous man with specs and a brolly that could ever be ... a part from a certain Derby lad who bore a striking resemblance to him, who I went out with in the early 90s... who also had said accoutrements. Nick is a cyclist, geographer, historian and advocate of minial kit when hiking; his most entertaining book Two Degrees West about his mission to follow the line of longitude across Britain was essential reading for the insomniac nights I had while writing my disseration. Not that it put me to sleep! It was fab reading when I couldn't sleep!
Nick, like Andrew Castle, is a REAL man, not an actor, which is best. Better to have real heroes than film ones! And he wis born in Hastings! AND he won the Mungo Park medal in 1992 from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (Mungo Park was a famous Scottish pioneer explorer)
